Why we need bold collaborations to transform health - a word from our director
Bold collaborations. Transforming health. This is how I described IHI when I met with Members of the European Parliament this month. All of our projects are public-private partnerships, involving universities, industry, hospitals, SMEs, patient organisations and more, and this broad participation is key to our success.
This newsletter showcases two good examples of how bold collaborations can deliver long-lasting, transformative outcomes at opposite ends of health research – from changing patient journeys to advancing the early discovery of new antivirals.
The master protocol for type 1 diabetes screening developed in the EDENT1FI project is now linked to the national screening programme for children and teenagers in Italy – directly supporting early intervention and improved outcomes for people living with diabetes.
The CARE project, launched in the emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, came to a close and has left an impressive legacy of open data. In addition to the compounds taken forward by project partners, the project has released 12 public datasets of screening data, supporting future data-driven approaches for antiviral response.
